Gambler's Edge

Don't miss a call.

Calls usually land late in a game, and live lines move fast. An alert only helps if it reaches you right away, even with your phone locked, in a Focus or on Do Not Disturb. Set it up once:

1 · In the app

Telegram

  • Open the chat with the Gambler's Edge bot, tap its name at the top and make sure notifications are on (not muted).
  • While you're there, tap Sound and pick a tone you'll notice. A distinct sound means you know it's a call without looking.
  • Telegram Settings → Notifications and Sounds → Private Chats: notifications on.

Discord

  • The bot's chat is under Direct Messages, not in the server. Make sure it isn't muted.
  • Discord Settings → Notifications: notifications on for direct messages.
  • Use Discord on a computer too? Discord holds back phone notifications while you're active there. In the desktop app, Settings → Notifications → Push Notification Inactive Timeout: set it to the shortest option.

2 · On your phone

iPhone

  • Settings → Notifications → Telegram (or Discord): Allow Notifications, Lock Screen and Sounds on, and delivery set to Immediate, not Scheduled Summary.
  • Focus modes block apps that aren't on their list. Settings → Focus, then for each Focus you use (Do Not Disturb, Sleep, Work…): Apps → Add Telegram or Discord. Alerts then get through while that Focus is on.

Android

  • Settings → Apps → Telegram (or Discord) → Notifications: on, and set private chats or direct messages to show as a pop-up with sound.
  • Do Not Disturb → Apps (or "Exceptions"): add the app so alerts get through.
  • Settings → Apps → the app → Battery: Unrestricted. Battery savers can delay notifications by minutes, which is too late for a live line.

Menu names vary a little between phone makers and versions.

3 · Test it

Send /testalert to the bot, then lock your phone (turn on your usual Focus or Do Not Disturb too). Thirty seconds later a test alert arrives. If your phone buzzes or chimes, you're set. If not, recheck step 2 for the mode you were in.
